Working-Class Small Business Owner Morgan Coghill Launches Primary Challenge to Rep. Brad Schneider in IL-10

“We don’t need another politician managing the decline; we need someone ready to fight for the people who built this country.”

Mundelein, IL — Morgan Coghill, a working-class small business owner who grew up poor, worked third shift, and built a life in Mundelein, announced today that he is running for Congress in Illinois’ 10th District.

Morgan is launching a primary challenge to Rep. Brad Schneider, joining a growing national wave of candidates taking on safe-seat Democrats who voters say have failed to fight back hard enough against extremism and corporate control.

“I’m running because working people are getting sold out and talked down to. And I’m tired of watching Democrats with safe seats act like they’re afraid to take a side,” said Coghill. “I grew up poor. I know what it’s like to ration gas, to skip meals, to work third shift for someone who couldn’t care less. I’m not here to play the game. I’m here to break the game open.”

From his working-class childhood to building a small business in Lake County, Morgan Coghill’s story is one of grit, struggle, and service. He believes the people of IL-10 deserve someone in Washington who doesn’t just talk about the middle class, but comes from it.

Coghill’s campaign will be unapologetically pro-worker, pro-democracy, and anti-corruption. He plans to take on the unchecked influence of money in politics, stand up for union rights, protect reproductive freedom, and rebuild the American dream from the bottom up.

“The economy is rigged. The system’s broken. And too many Democrats are just managing the decline,” said Coghill. “Meanwhile, folks in this district are working harder and falling further behind. Rent’s up. Healthcare’s a nightmare. Wages haven’t kept up in decades. I’m not running to prove working families deserve better. I’m running to fight until they get it.”

Morgan lives in Mundelein with his wife and two children. His campaign website is now live at www.coghillforcongress.com

Meet Morgan:

Morgan Coghill is a proud Illinoisan, community advocate, and unapologetic dirt road Democrat. He is a successful small business owner who knows what it means to build something from nothing.

Raised in poverty and shaped by the struggles of working-class life, Morgan is running for Congress in Illinois’ 10th District to fight for economic justice, dignity, and a government that serves the people, not corporate donors.

Morgan was raised in an environment where every dollar mattered and every meal was hard-earned. Growing up, he knew what it meant to rely on food stamps and free lunch programs. Like so many kids in struggling families, Morgan remembers the quiet shame of handing a lunch ticket to the cafeteria worker and hoping no one noticed.

That experience never left. It’s why he has spent his life working to ensure others don’t have to navigate the same hardship alone.

His path wasn’t easy. He worked second and third shifts, endured thankless bosses, and built a future through grit, hard work, and a few strokes of luck. Along the way, he got to know the backbone of this country—plumbers, nurses, teachers, electricians, veterans, and single parents trying to stretch every paycheck.

Now, Morgan is running a people-powered campaign with no corporate PAC money and no strings attached. He’s stepping up because too many Democratic leaders have failed to stand their ground against Trump and the far-right forces tearing this country apart. Unlike the incumbent, who has taken thousands from special interests and corporate donors, Morgan is beholden only to the people of IL-10.

That means standing up for working families, demanding healthcare as a human right, protecting reproductive freedom, and building an economy that works from the bottom up.
