PRESS RELEASE - Justice Cannot Wait
“Brad Schneider’s statement makes clear why the fight for Palestinian freedom cannot be left to career politicians who talk about peace while funding war.”
Mundelein, IL — Brad Schneider’s statement is a masterclass in moral dishonesty. He calls recognition of Palestine “premature,” as if seventy-six years of displacement, occupation, and daily violence were not enough. He claims it “rewards terrorism,” yet the only rewards have gone to Israel for their war crimes, bankrolled by U.S. taxpayers.
He talks about hostages, but ignores the thousands of Palestinians, including children, indefinitely imprisoned by Israel. He invokes “peace,” but insists Palestinians must wait until the very state killing them agrees to recognize their existence. That isn’t peace. That’s genocide.
Recognition of Palestine is long overdue, but recognition without protection is meaningless. Without a commitment to defending Palestinians from genocide, it becomes empty symbolism. It is a mere cover for politicians who shed crocodile tears over dead or starving children while voting to send more bombs and bullets.
Justice delayed is justice denied. Palestinians don’t need more platitudes. They need the U.S. to stop funding their destruction. While Schneider hides behind platitudes, his votes facilitate the very violence he pretends to oppose.
Our movement stands for more. We stand for ending U.S. complicity, cutting off weapons, and standing shoulder to shoulder with Palestinians in their struggle for freedom. Recognition must come with real solidarity, or it is nothing.
Schneider’s cowardice will be remembered. So will the courage of those who choose to act. Together, we are building a coalition that will not stop until justice is won.
