Morgan Coghill Statement On Brad Schneider Support For Charlie Kirk Resolution

Shame on Brad Schneider for supporting this resolution.

Charlie Kirk routinely mocked victims of the same political violence he tragically fell victim to. 

He called the Civil Rights Act a “mistake,” promoted Christian nationalist doctrine, and said the slaughter of children in school shootings is the price we pay for gun rights. 

We can concede that Kirk was an advocate for open debate and the First Amendment, without turning his racist, conspiratorial ideas into something worthy of honor. 

We can condemn assassination and political violence without whitewashing the legacy of a bigot.

This is the warped judgment we have come to expect from Brad Schneider, an old-guard Democrat whose answer to authoritarianism and MAGA rot is capitulation.
