Morgan Coghill Statement On The Election Of Zohran Mamdani
Mundelein, IL – Last night’s results were a clear message from voters across the country.
Zohran Mamdani’s landslide win is the clearest sign yet that people are ready for a new kind of politics. He built a campaign around ordinary people, and he showed what happens when you run on conviction instead of establishment calculation.
From Virginia to California to Colorado, everyday people stood up to the billionaire class that bankrolls both MAGA and the corporate Democrats who protect them.
The wins in Virginia, Prop 50, and Colorado’s food-assistance vote all point to the same thing: when leaders talk about affordability, dignity, and fairness, working people show up.
This was a rejection of politics that serves the powerful. It shows how much energy there is when campaigns are built around everyday people instead of donors and special interests.
In our district, we see the same frustration with politicians who speak the language of reform while collecting checks from the same right-wing lobbies funding extremism.
The message is simple: when you organize around people’s material needs, you win. And that’s exactly what we’re building here in IL-10: a campaign rooted in working-class values, not AIPAC checks or Wall Street talking points.
This coalition is growing, and it’s coming for the status quo.
